The Jumping Rise staff put our heads together and came up with some great recommendations on the best fly fishing lids for 2022, and we are happy to share them with you! What to Consider In a Fly Fishing Hat
Chances are, a fly fishing hat is going to be a life-long friend (I know mine are). As with any relationship, it is good to do a little vetting by asking questions. Here are some things to consider with a fly fishing lid:
- Where will you use it, what are the weather conditions?
- Do I need a wide brim, or will a trucker-style hat work best?
- Do I need to keep the sun off my neck?
- What about bugs? Do I need a netting face cover?
- Should it be waterproof?
- Should I consider style or only function?
- Durability.

Overview
Columbia Bora Bora Booney. Although not the most stylish fly fishing hat, it does do a few things really well. It is lightweight, collapses to a small size for packing, offers excellent sun protection/breathability, and has an adjustable fit. If you are looking for pure performance in a fly fishing lid, this is our pick for the best choice.

Recent Fly Fishing Hat Reviews
This is the second sun hat I have purchased. I bought his full price, not as a reviewer. It is a lightweight hat with a floppy brim. I read some of the review of this product before buying it, and a few commented on being unhappy with the brim due to it being without structure. So I am noting here it is a floppy brim hat–like a fishing hat.

I bought this hat to help protect my face while out on the water for a recent trip to French Polynesia. The hat is lightweight, collapses down to a small size for packing, is very breathable and provided the sun protection I was looking for. My head is slightly narrow but long and so I often have a difficult time get a hat to fit right. With the elastic draw string I got just the right fit. I was so pleased with my hat that I bought my father in-law one and he wears his anytime he is out in the yard.

FishPond Eddy River Hat
Overview
The FishPond Eddy River Hat. A sweeping round curved brim and the pinched crown of a cowboy hat was possibly the most defining symbol of the American West.
Capturing that spirit is one of the reasons the Jumping Rise crew chose this one. Any of the alternatives below could have easily taken the cake. Finding the delicate balance between shade, comfort, and keeping out of the way is a tall order for any fly fishing hat. The eddy river fly fishing lid hits the sweet spot.

The brim is made with 100% recycled fishing nets, something you will love if you are eco-conscious. The mid-crown front is organic cotton, and the back is polyester mesh.
